Turkey Day Recap

Yesterday started off by waking up at the crack of dawn 7 am to get ready for the Drumstick Dash! It was held in a town about 30 minutes away from where I live, so we knew we had to leave a little early. We were supposed to leave at 7:30, but knowing my family, we didn’t end up leaving until 8. I’m not gonna lie, there was a point where I thought we weren’t going to make it on time. Luckily we did!

leg warmers are becoming my new obsession…:)

The race was 4.5 miles and my goal was just to finish without walking. When the race started I stuck with my sister and dad for the first 2 or 3 miles and then I decided to pick up my pace a little. I ended up finishing, only stopping once to get water, in a little less than 48 minutes.

According to my Garmin the course was a little longer than 4.5 miles. I’m pretty happy for my time considering the course was really packed (around 9,000 people!) and I have only been running “long” distances for a short time. I really enjoy races and I am seriously considering training for a half marathon. Maybe I’m a little crazy…:)

After the race we had to make a stop for some Starbucks:) It’s sort of a little tradition that we do every year on Thanksgiving.

tall soy latte with one pump of white chocolate and peppermint

After getting ready (leggings and an oversized sweatshirt for me since we are staying home this year:)) and watching the Macy’s Day Parade, it was cooking time!

I was basically in charge of all of the side dishes minus the mashed potatoes and jello. First up I made stuffing bread:

Mama Pea’s green bean casserole.

Sweet potato casserole

my fav:)

Brussels sprouts

And last but certainly not least…

Pumpkin pie :)

My plate:

plus more sweet potato and green bean casserole:)

Overall it was a very yummy Thanksgiving:) Now I can’t wait until lunch today when I can eat all of the leftovers;)

I don’t think I will be participating in the Black Friday shopping today, but I am working 5pm-midnight. I have no idea how I’m going to stay awake… I’m an old lady at heart;)

Enjoy shopping and eating leftovers!

Peace and Love,
