WIAW: Number 20

Yesterday I was feeling a little down. I haven’t talked about it on here before, but my right knee has been bothering me lately and I guess I was just hoping it’d pass and feel better. My mom says it’s because running is hard on your knees and legs (which I agree) but I think it’s more then that. I haven’t been running too much, and never on two consecutive days.

I finally made the decision to get it checked out, just in case. I have an appointment on Thursday and I’m hoping that it’s nothing major. I’m feeling a little down because I’m so excited to run the half marathon, and I don’t want something getting in my way of training for it. But on the other hand, I’d rather prevent anything  from happening now, then wait until it’s much worse. But I will run that half marathon. I am not wasting almost $100 on that entry fee ;)

Now onto something a little more cheerful, yesterday’s eats!

peanut butter panda puffs, 1/2 a banana, and some almond milk

grilled banana wrap w/ better n’ peanut butter and cinnamon, along with amy’s chunky tomato bisque, and some carrots w/ hummus

Snack (#1)

iced oatmeal cookie zbar (the closest thing I will eat to dessert during lent ;)) and a small iced coffee w/ soy milk (recycled photo)

Snack (#2)

a handful of pretzels w/ the rest of TJs hummus

veggie mac and cheese atop a bed of steamed kale, with a cara cara orange on the side

pumpkin vitatop w/ pb, frozen grapes, and some peas on the side (for my knee ;))

Lots of school work to get done today (I have 3 quizzes/tests this week!) and my first day of work! Wish me luck ;) Have a happy Wednesday!

Peace and Love,

Half Marathon Training: Week Two

Hi friends! Sorry I didn’t get the chance to blog this weekend, I didn’t even open my laptop on Saturday. I spent most of my weekend with friends and family, just how it should be :) And, once again, I’ve made more changes to my blog layout. I’m probably one of the most indecisive people ever, and I like to change things up a lot ;) Now on to my recap of last weeks half mary training!

Half Marathon Plan Week Two

(bold is the original plan & in italics is what I added and/or did)

Sun: rest

Mon: 3 miles (+ TIU bikini-strap workout and abs)

Tues: cross-train (kickboxing)

Wed: 3 miles (+TIU bikini-strap workout and abs)

Thurs: cross-train (ballet conditioning)

Fri: rest

Sat: 5 miles (+TIU bikini-strap workout and abs)

Overall thoughts:

This week I still ran the two three-milers outside, but I did the “long” run on the treadmill. The verdict? Running on the treadmill feels so much easier! I think it has to do with the strong winds we’ve been having lately, but I hope I can start running more outside, because you know, the actual race sadly won’t be on the treadmill ;)

Also, my appetite seems to be increasing, but it usually hits me the day after I run and strength train. On Saturday, I would say I ate “normally”, and then yesterday I never quite felt satisfied. I’ve been trying to add more protein to my meals, and really making sure that I’m getting enough. To be honest, it’s something that I never really pay attention too, and I know that I don’t eat as much as I should. I crave vegetables like it’s my job, which is great, but that’s usually what holds me back from getting enough protein. I’m definitely going to work on it though. I made Julie’s banana bread protein pancakes yesterday to start my day off right. I also see a protein muffin in my very near future… ;)

Well that’s all for now. Have a lovely rest of your day!

Peace and Love,

Friday Facts

1. It’s been two days without dessert and I’m going strong ;)(*knockonwood*) The weekends are when I usually consume the most sweets, so I’m a little worried, but I can do it :)

2. I have nothing to do today. Like nothing. No school, no homework, no work, nada. I’m going to take this as a good thing and enjoy lounging around in my pjs all day morning long ;)

3. Every Sunday I typically make dinner for my family. My mom asked me to make dinner tonight, since you’re not supposed to eat any meat on Friday’s during lent. I more then happily accepted, expect I’ve come in the habit of not knowing what to make. I have tons of recipes bookmarked on my computer, but none of them ever appeal to me when I actually get the chance to cook a “real” meal. After trying to decide what to make for, oh, about 30 minutes, I finally decided one *this*. Now if I could only figure out what to make on the side…

4. I’m going back to Purdue tomorrow! Just for the day though ;) My BFF that lives in Indy and I are driving up to visit our other BFF. It’s been over a month since we’ve all seen each other, so I’m pretty excited ;) Sadly, there’ll be no Silver Dipper this time :(

5. I stayed up until 11:30 last night finishing Catching Fire. Now I need to get Mockingjay. Like ASAP.

6. I am more then ready for spring. To be honest, spring is probably my least favorite season (fall is my favorite), but I’m just ready for it to be warm all the time, and to be able to wear dresses.

dress, I miss you. and my tan. and my long hair.

7. TGIF!

Peace and love,
