Happy Monday! I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a nice, long weekend<3 Since today is Marvelous Monday, I thought there was no better way to celebrate then with a recap of my Thanksgiving! Thanks again Katie for hosting every week<3
Let’s back track to Thursday morning. I woke up around 6am and got ready to run the Drumstick Dash with my family! We did this race last year and had a lot of fun, so we made sure to sign up again this year.
Unlike last year, we actually managed to arrive EARLY, rather than late. We found a parking spot, checked in, put our stuff back in the car, and still had plenty of time to spare.
Of course we had to take the standard “pre-race picture”.
Emily and I both joked on Facebook that we should really start wearing make-up to these things since we almost always take pictures
Since Emily’s knee has been bothering her, and my mom wanted my dad to walk with her, I was the only one who ended up running. There were two courses; 4.65 miles and 2.5 miles. I opted for the longer course so we could all finish around the same time.
I ended up finishing in 45:44 (according to the app on my phone) which I was pretty pleased with considering how crowded this race was. I guess this year was the largest year they’ve ever had and we definitely noticed. The lines for the porta potties were awful to say the least. It also seemed a bit unorganized compared to last year, but I still think I’d do it again just for the tradition
Let’s hope next year is better!
After the race we stopped for Starbucks, per tradition, and then headed home. Emily and Jordan split ways from us and headed to Jordan’s side of the family for their Thanksgiving meal. I watched the Macy’s Day Parade with my mom and then finally got cooking!
I was in charge of most of the side dishes and made the usuals:
-mashed potatoes and gravy
Since both of my sisters went to their husband’s/boyfriend’s families, my mom made a turkey breast for my dad and herself since we didn’t need a whole turkey for two people. My dad also made stuffing, and we had my mom’s jello (the only kind I actually like), and rolls.
I definitely went back for seconds on some as well
Emily and Jordan came over for dessert later on and we all had pumpkin pie and watched “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”. It was a good Thanksgiving indeed
…
Moving onto the rest of my marvelous weekend, I worked Black Friday (which ended up going pretty well), went shopping with my BFF, did a long run on Saturday, enjoyed a trip to Target with my mom (with Starbucks in hand
), and made dinner for my family Sunday night.
Nothing beats family time and this long weekend was definitely full of it
I hope everyone else had a marvelous Thanksgiving/weekend<3
Peace and Love,
Molly

This is so weird, but I have never had a green bean casserole OR sweet potato casserole! We always just have green beans and sweet potatoes, am I missing out? And glad you survived Black Friday
That’s crazy! I may be a little biased, but YES you are missing out
I agree, nothing beats family time. i am glad you had a great holiday!
Thank you, I hope you did as well!
I’ve never had green bean casserole either! But I have to say that your Sweet Potato Casserole looks very pretty!
It is SO good! And thank you
Aw, love that your whole family ran together. So cute! I’m so happy you had a wonderful vacation with your family
Thank you!
I’m weird about jell-o, too! I only like certain kinds!
Sounds like a great holiday weekend!
My mom’s is the only kind I’ll eat!
That sweet potato casserole is calling my name… I’ve never had one before! And it’s great to hear that you had such a wonderful weekend racing, shopping, and spending time with your family!
You need to try it sometime! It does not disappoint. And I did! Thank you
